Funding depends on your levy status, and the employee you are looking to enrol. You can access funding if you are a Small/Medium Enterprise with under 250 employees and an annual payroll below £3 million. The government will pay for 95% of the standard cost, while the non-levy employer pays the remaining 5%
Large employers who have a payroll over £3 million will have a growth and skills levy they will have access to. Funds in this levy expire after 12 months. If there are no funds in the growth and skills levy, then the government will pay 75% of the training costs, with the remaining 25% being covered by the employer.
There are also additional funding incentives available, subject to eligibility. These include:
- £2,000 hiring payment for non-levy employers who enrol under 25 on an apprenticeship, who’s been employed at least three months
- Fully funded apprenticeship training for SMEs enrolling under 25s
- £1,000 payment for employers when apprentices starts is 16-18 (or under 25 if they are in care or have been in care, or have an education, health and care (EHC) plan.)
