Course Overview

Are you employed and about to step into your first leadership, supervisory, or management role? Our Leadership & Management Skills Bootcamp in Berkshire is the perfect launchpad to help you thrive. This programme equips you with the foundational knowledge, hands-on strategies, and vital techniques to lead with assurance, motivate your team and manage operations efficiently. Designed to sharpen essential leadership abilities – such as communication, team co-ordination and decision-making, this bootcamp can set you up for success in your new role.

Duration:	60 hours over 10 weeks
Timings:	Runs one day a week, from 9:30am to 4pm, across a 10-week period. The timetable includes regular breaks and a set lunch break to keep you refreshed and focused throughout the day.
Study Modes:	Fully online, group-led training and coaching sessions that incorporate a range of interactive activities to keep learning engaging and practical
Qualifications and Level:	Certification of completion from Fareport Training & The Skills and Business Hub
Entry requirements:	This opportunity is open to employed individuals only. To apply, you must be a resident of Berkshire and at least 19 years old by the 31st August 2025. Applicants must also have the legal right to work in the UK and have lived in the UK continuously for the last three years. We’re looking for individuals with a genuine enthusiasm for leadership and management, and a strong commitment to building their skills through this Skills Bootcamp.
Cost:	If you're living in Berkshire and the business you work for has between 1 and 250 employees, 90% of the course cost is funded by The Skills and Business Hub. Your employer will need to fund the remaining 10%. For larger organisations with over 250 employees, employers are expected to contribute 30%, while The Skills and Business Hub will fund the other 70%. Please note: all funding is subject to meeting full eligibility criteria

Tuesday 15th July 2025	Held weekly on Tuesdays from 9:30am to 4pm over a 10-week period, with scheduled breaks throughout the day

Module 1: Introduction to Management and Leadership Introduction to Management and Leadership sets the foundation for the bootcamp by outlining what to expect from the programme and how to get the most from it. You’ll start to explore the difference between management and leadership, begin developing key skills such as communication and decision-making, and take part in interactive activities to identify your leadership style. This module also includes personal goal setting to help you stay focused on your development throughout the course
Module 2: Leadership Fundamentals Leadership Fundamentals explores the core principles of effective leadership, unpacking further the key differences between leadership and management. You’ll dive into various leadership styles and theories, gaining insight into how different approaches can influence team dynamics. The module also covers the importance of leading by example and developing strong self-awareness, with a focus on emotional intelligence and its role in building trust, motivating others, and creating a positive working environment.
Module 3: Team Dynamics Team Dynamics focuses on understanding how teams develop, work together, and perform at their best. You’ll explore the stages of team development, the different roles individuals play within a team, and strategies for motivating others while effectively managing conflict. The module also highlights the importance of building a positive team culture where collaboration, trust, and shared purpose can thrive.
Module 4: Communication Communication equips you with the essential skills to communicate clearly, confidently, and effectively as a leader. You’ll explore both verbal and non-verbal communication, develop active listening and feedback techniques, and learn how to adapt your style to suit different individuals and situations. The module also covers how to approach difficult conversations with professionalism and care, along with practical tips to strengthen your presentation skills.
Module 5: Delegation and Engaging Teams Delegation and Engaging Teams focuses on the art of effective delegation and how it can enhance team performance. You’ll learn what delegation really means, when it’s appropriate to delegate tasks, and how to overcome common barriers. The module also explores how to empower team members, encourage accountability, and create a motivated team environment by recognising and celebrating success.
Module 6: Developing and Managing Performance - Part 1 Developing and Managing Performance – Part 1 provides you with the tools to support individual and team growth through structured performance management. You’ll learn how to set clear, achievable SMART objectives, understand the stages of the performance management cycle, and practise giving constructive feedback. The module also covers how to monitor and measure performance effectively, as well as how to recognise and address underperformance with confidence and care.
Module 7: Developing and Managing Performance - Part 2 Developing and Managing Performance – Part 2 builds on the previous module by focusing on coaching as a key tool for developing others. You’ll explore practical coaching skills and techniques, learn how to create effective coaching and development plans, and understand how to conduct impactful learning and development sessions. The module also looks at how to align individual goals with wider team objectives to drive both personal and organisational growth.
Module 8: Decision Making and Problem Solving Decision Making and Problem Solving equips you with practical tools to make confident, well-informed decisions in the workplace. You’ll explore the decision-making process, including root cause analysis, and apply a range of problem-solving techniques. The module also highlights common decision-making biases to watch out for, the importance of using data and evidence to guide your thinking, and how to manage risk through effective contingency planning.
Module 9: Personal Development Personal Development focuses on building the habits and mindset needed for long-term growth as a leader. You’ll explore reflective practice to deepen your self-awareness, revisit your personal SWOT analysis to track progress, and develop strategies for time management and prioritisation. The module also covers techniques for building resilience and managing stress effectively, helping you maintain wellbeing while leading others.
Module 10: Development Next Steps Development Next Steps is all about reflection, celebration, and planning for the future. You’ll complete a self-assessment to evaluate your progress and identify areas for continued growth. To consolidate your learning, each participant will deliver a short 5–10 minute presentation, showcasing key insights and takeaways from the programme. This final module encourages confidence, clarity, and a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
