Course Overview

Ready to strengthen your abilities in leading projects, managing teams, or expanding your business? The Oxfordshire Project Management Skills Bootcamp provides engaging, hands-on training for Oxfordshire residents seeking new career directions or refining their professional skill set. This funded course builds your core project delivery expertise and shares tried-and-tested methods for staying organised and achieving objectives. You’ll also have the chance to work towards the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ), boosting your qualifications and making you more attractive to employers.

Duration:60 hour course over 10 weeks
Timings:Takes place one day a week, 9:30am to 4pm, over a 10-week period, with regular breaks and a set time for lunch.
Study Modes:Interactive online group classes that blend professional coaching with practical, collaborative exercises
Qualifications and Level:Achieve the well-respected APM Project Management Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ), along with a completion certificate issued by Fareport Training and Enterprise Oxfordshire.
Entry requirements:

To join, you must be at least 19 years old by 31st August 2025 and live in Oxfordshire. This programme welcomes a diverse range of people – whether employed, self-employed, running your own business, freelancing, or currently unemployed. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK and have lived here continuously for the last three years.

We’re seeking motivated individuals eager to enhance their project management skills. During the Bootcamp, you’ll learn the core concepts and frameworks that form the basis of the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ), and prepare to take the one-hour certification exam.

You’ll receive expert-led teaching, tailored coaching, and continuous support to assist you throughout your learning journey.

Cost:If you live in Oxfordshire and work as a sole trader, freelancer, or run a business without staff - or if you’re currently unemployed, you may be eligible for full course funding from the Department for Education (DfE). For small to medium-sized businesses (1–250 employees), employers contribute just 10%, with the DfE covering the rest. Larger organisations with over 250 employees are responsible for 30% of the course cost, while the DfE funds the remaining 70%. Please note that access to this funding is subject to meeting all eligibility criteria.

Week 1: Project Management Basics & Project Initiation


You will explore the fundamentals of project management, including methodologies, frameworks, and the impact of different operating environments. This module sets the foundational knowledge you need to manage projects effectively.

Week 2: Roles And Responsibilities & Project Planning


We delve into the various roles within a project team and understand the critical responsibilities of each role. You will also learn essential project planning techniques, including setting timelines and allocating tasks.

Week 3: Project Execution


Learn how to integrate projects within the broader context of your organisation. This module focuses on aligning project objectives with corporate goals and adapting management strategies to suit your workplace dynamics.

Week 4: Project Closure & Quality Management


We cover how to accurately define and manage the scope of your projects, ensuring they stay within predefined boundaries. You’ll also explore strategies for effective resource allocation to meet project objectives.

Week 5: Leadership, Communication & Teamwork Within Project Management


You will gain insights into identifying, assessing, and managing risks, maintaining the quality of projects, and the role of leadership in guiding projects towards success.

Week 6: Additional Project Management Soft Skills & Mock Exam


We focus on applying the project management principles you’ve learned in a real workplace setting. This module teaches techniques for effectively implementing project plans. Time is also given for learners to complete their first mock PFQ exam in preparation for the actual PFQ exam in Week 10.

Week 7: Agile Project Management + Digital Tools & Fundamental Exam


Module 7 enhances your problem-solving and decision-making skills, tailored to project management scenarios. You’ll learn negotiation techniques that are effective within and outside the project team, plus take a Digital Tools & Fundamentals exam.

This module addresses strategies for managing interpersonal conflicts in projects and explores opportunities for personal development to enhance your project management career.

Week 9: Presentation Skills & Mock Exam


We focus on improving presentation skills in relation to project management scenarios. Further time is given for learners to take another mock PFQ exam, so they are ready for the real PFQ exam in Week 10.

Week 10: Revision & PFQ Exam


We consolidate your learning with a comprehensive revision session on project management fundamentals. This is followed by the actual PFQ exam which assesses your understanding of the content covered throughout the course.
