Understanding Skills Bootcamp funding
If you’re planning to enrol your staff in a Hull Skills Bootcamp, it’s important to know how the funding structure works:
Hull & East Yorkshire SMEs (fewer than 250 staff): Pay just 10% of the course cost per learner. The remaining 90% is covered by the Department for Education through Hull City Council
Large Hull & East Yorkshire businesses (250+ staff): Contribute 30%, with the other 70% subsidised by the Department for Education through Hull City Council
Note: Each learner can only enrol in one Skills Bootcamp per funding year (April 1 – March 31).
Eligibility criteria for funded Hull Skills Bootcamps
To access funded training, Hull & East Yorkshire employees must meet the following conditions:
Location: Must reside in the Hull / East Yorkshire area (East Riding of Yorkshire region)
Age: Must be 19 or older as of 31st August 2025
Legal Right to Work: Must have the right to work in the UK
Residency: Must have lived in the UK continuously for the past 3 years
Employer Size: Employees at Hull & East Yorkshire SMEs may qualify for reduced contribution rates (10%)
