Course Overview

Looking to build confidence in managing projects, guiding teams, or growing your business? Our Wiltshire & Swindon Project Management Skills Bootcamp course offers practical, hands-on training for those exploring fresh career opportunities or sharpening their professional toolkit. This funded programme equips you with essential project delivery skills and introduces proven strategies for staying on track and hitting goals. Duration:60 hour course over 10 weeks
Timings:Runs once a week, from 9:30am to 4pm, for 10 weeks. The programme has frequent breaks and a dedicated lunch time.
Study Modes:Live, collaborative online sessions combining expert-led coaching with hands-on activities
Qualifications and Level:Gain the industry-recognised APM Project Management Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ). Plus, a Certificate of completion from Fareport Training, Wiltshire Council & Swindon Borough Council 
Entry requirements:

To take part, you’ll need to live in Wiltshire or Swindon and be at least 19 years old on 31st August 2025. The programme is open to a wide range of individuals – whether you’re employed, self-employed, running a business, freelancing, or currently out of work. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK and have resided here continuously for the past three years.

We’re looking for participants who are genuinely motivated to grow their project management capabilities. Throughout the Bootcamp, you’ll explore the foundational principles and frameworks that underpin the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ), and prepare for a one-hour exam to earn the certification.

You won’t be on your own – expert tutors, personalised coaching, and ongoing support will be there to guide you every step of the way.

Cost:If you’re located in Wiltshire or Swindon and operate as a sole trader, freelancer, or run a business without employees - or if you're currently unemployed - you could qualify for full course funding (worth £3,250), fully covered by either Wiltshire Council or Swindon Borough Council. For small to medium-sized enterprises (1–250 employees), employers are asked to contribute just 10% (£325 per person), with the remaining cost subsidised by one of the councils. Larger companies with over 250 employees are required to cover 30% of the course fee (£975 per person), while the councils fund the remaining 70%. Please be aware that access to this funding depends on meeting the full eligibility requirements.

Week 1: Project Management Basics & Project Initiation


You will explore the fundamentals of project management, including methodologies, frameworks, and the impact of different operating environments. This module sets the foundational knowledge you need to manage projects effectively.

Week 2: Roles And Responsibilities & Project Planning


We delve into the various roles within a project team and understand the critical responsibilities of each role. You will also learn essential project planning techniques, including setting timelines and allocating tasks.

Week 3: Project Execution


Learn how to integrate projects within the broader context of your organisation. This module focuses on aligning project objectives with corporate goals and adapting management strategies to suit your workplace dynamics.

Week 4: Project Closure & Quality Management


We cover how to accurately define and manage the scope of your projects, ensuring they stay within predefined boundaries. You’ll also explore strategies for effective resource allocation to meet project objectives.

Week 5: Leadership, Communication & Teamwork Within Project Management


You will gain insights into identifying, assessing, and managing risks, maintaining the quality of projects, and the role of leadership in guiding projects towards success.

Week 6: Additional Project Management Soft Skills & Mock Exam


We focus on applying the project management principles you’ve learned in a real workplace setting. This module teaches techniques for effectively implementing project plans. Time is also given for learners to complete their first mock PFQ exam in preparation for the actual PFQ exam in Week 10.

Week 7: Agile Project Management + Digital Tools & Fundamental Exam


Module 7 enhances your problem-solving and decision-making skills, tailored to project management scenarios. You’ll learn negotiation techniques that are effective within and outside the project team, plus take a Digital Tools & Fundamentals exam.

Week 9: Presentation Skills & Mock Exam


We focus on improving presentation skills in relation to project management scenarios. Further time is given for learners to take another mock PFQ exam, so they are ready for the real PFQ exam in Week 10.

We consolidate your learning with a comprehensive revision session on project management fundamentals. This is followed by the actual PFQ exam which assesses your understanding of the content covered throughout the course.
