Week 1: Introduction to Digital Marketing | Content Collection with Market Research
Learners explore what digital marketing is and how it fits within the wider marketing mix. The focus is on identifying audiences, understanding the importance of market research, and beginning the process of content collection to inform strategic planning. Activities may include competitor analysis and early-stage campaign planning.
This week dives into the power of storytelling in building a strong, memorable brand. Learners will explore the psychology of branding, how to define brand tone and messaging, and how to map and analyse the customer journey. Key outcomes include the creation of brand profiles and value propositions.
Week 3: Website Basics | GDPR & Data Protection
A technical week introducing learners to how websites are structured and designed for marketing success. Topics include navigation, accessibility, mobile responsiveness, and calls-to-action (CTAs). The week also covers GDPR, ethical marketing practices, and how to ensure data is collected and stored responsibly.
Week 4: SEO & EEAT | Blogging
Learners gain practical knowledge of how search engines work and what makes content rank well. Emphasis is placed on keyword research, meta tags, and on-page SEO techniques. EEAT principles are introduced to help learners build trust with users and search engines. Blogging is used as a core content strategy, with learners writing and optimising their own posts.
Week 5: Social Media Engagement Strategies | Social Media Ads
Focusing on organic and paid strategies, this week helps learners understand different platform algorithms, audience segmentation, and engagement techniques. They’ll explore ad formats, targeting, and budgeting across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Learners will plan and mock up their own social media campaigns.
Week 6: Video Marketing | Visual Design & Podcasting
Learners get hands-on with multimedia content, learning the basics of video scripting, shooting, and editing. Visual design principles for marketing materials and digital branding are explored, as is the growing world of podcasting. By the end of the week, learners will storyboard short pieces of multimedia content.
Week 7: Email Marketing | Content Planning and Strategising
This week introduces learners to email platforms and campaign-building techniques. They’ll learn about segmentation, subject lines, CTAs, and how to avoid spam filters. In addition, they’ll work on developing content calendars and aligning content with business goals for consistent, strategic output.
Week 8: Budgeting for Success | Paid Advertising (Google Ads)
Learners gain a practical understanding of how to plan, allocate, and manage a digital marketing budget. The focus then shifts to the world of paid search, especially Google Ads—covering ad formats, bidding strategies, and analytics. Simulations or practice campaigns help solidify these concepts.
Week 9: Understanding Reporting | Exploring Data Insights
This week is all about analytics and measuring success. Learners will use reporting tools like Google Analytics to evaluate campaign performance, track key metrics (KPIs), and develop data-driven recommendations. The emphasis is on using data to continuously improve marketing strategy.
Week 10: Digital Marketing Strategy | Skills Wrap-Up
The final week brings everything together, with learners developing their own digital marketing strategy from start to finish. Q. I have already completed a Skills Bootcamp, can I enrol on another?
A. Individuals are permitted to enrol in only one Skills Bootcamp per funding year (1st April to 31st March).
This limitation ensures that participants can fully commit to and benefit from the intensive training provided by each bootcamp. It also allows equitable access to these government-funded programs, enabling a broader range of individuals to enhance their skills and improve their employment prospects. Therefore, if you have already completed a Skills Bootcamp within the current funding year, you would need to wait until the next funding cycle to enroll in another.
