Fareport trainee wins Gosport College ‘Learner of the Year’
Gosport College has hosted its first ever awards ceremony, to celebrate the achievements of its students in this academic year.
The event was held at the Gosport College Skills Centre, at Fareham Reach, which opened in September. The Mayor of Gosport Councillor Christopher Carter and local
MP Caroline Dinenage were there to hand out the winners certificates.
Cheryl Brewer, who won the Health & Social Care learner of the Year Award, said:
‘I was a bit shocked to find out I’d been awarded.’ Cheryl progressed from Fareport’s Foundation Learning programme onto Gosport College. She said: ‘I’d like to work in a care home in the future and I’m on placement at Merlin Park Care Home where I go twice a week to gain work experience.’
The Gosport College Health & Social Care course is taught at the Fareport Training Centre in Gosport High Street.
Cheryl was on of thirteen students honoured and Ms Dinenage told them: ‘You are an incredible example of what you can achieve and are incredibly well-trained. You are a real asset to the area and great ambassadors.’
